if you or someone you know is a fan, you’re going to need the perfect wardrobe to celebrate!
Don't just show up—show out with a custom, high-quality, SHIZ UNIVERSITY varsity-style
sweatshirt you made yourself!

In this engaging, project-based class, you'll dive into the world of machine embroidery,
mastering the foundational techniques that elevate a simple garment into a personalized
masterpiece.

What You'll Learn & Create
Your main project will be creating the iconic varsity lettering for a custom-sized sweatshirt,
focusing on the essential skill of appliqué.
• Machine Embroidery Basics: We'll walk you through the essential steps, from
threading and hooping your fabric correctly to navigating your machine's interface and
understanding the different types of stabilizers.
• Appliqué Basics: You’ll learn how to add appliquéd details to your embroidery
projects.

We’ll cover:
• Material Selection & Preparation: We will be using high-quality cotton fabric for the
appliqué. You'll learn the crucial steps of stabilizing cotton to prevent stretching,
puckering, and fraying, ensuring a clean, professional finish on your stretchy sweatshirt
material.
• Precision Cutting & Placement: Learn the tricks for accurately placing your appliqué
fabrics and perfectly trim them to achieve neat finishing.
• Your Fabric Choice: To make your sweatshirt truly shine, you’ll choose a favorite print
from Patrick’s GOOD TOGETHER fabric collection to use for your SHIZ appliqué
letters. This collection offers unique colors and patterns that will give your sweatshirt a
customized professional look.

Who Should Attend?
This class is perfect for confident beginners and those who have some experience with a
sewing machine but are new to machine embroidery. All necessary embroidery machines and
materials, including your sweatshirt will be provided for use during the class.

Ages 10+. Younger students must be accompanied by an adult helper.

What's Included in Your Registration:
• Materials: All essential supplies are covered! Your registration fee includes:
• Sweatshirt: A high-quality crewneck in your chosen size and color (Green, Pink, or
White). Please email is with your color and size preference upon registration.
• Supplies: All necessary threads and stabilizers.
• Design File: The unique SHIZ UNIVERSITY embroidery file, created by Patrick, which
you can take home on a USB drive.
• Instruction: Expert, hands-on guidance for the entire project.

What You Need to Know:
• Embroidery Machines: SPACE IS LIMITED! We have a limited number of studio
machines available. You are welcome to bring your own machine from home.
• Hoop Requirement: A large embroidery hoop is required for this project.
• Skill Level: All skill levels are welcome!
• Registration: Due to limited space, register early!
